Maeve catches her first Canadian cold ...

This cold bug renders her cheeks unusually rosy ... She's a trooper.

However did this rabbit fix itself to my wrist, Grandma?

Grandpa, you *sure* you're supposed to let me have this bottle of pharmaceuticals?

A sleepy Maeve at dawn, back when her internal clock was still on Beijing time

But Baba, you played with me all night ... Don't you want to play with me all day too?

Tell me why we have to leave Grandpa's house again?

Our daughter in China, shortly before leaving her homeland ...

P.S. The most beautiful pics in the above melange were taken by my sister Sheila, natch!

One Month with Mama and Baba, plus Grandpa's Birthday

Our first-ever morning with Maeve (back when Kath and only Kath could hold her) ...

Exactly one month later, our Maeve at home, smiling at us from the crib in our bedroom ...

Maeve and her dad in his office, one month after first meeting each other ...
Can it already be the one month anniversary of our 'Gotcha Day'? Can it possibly be that we've held you so close for so short a time?

Maeve, wearing her new jacket from Grandma and Grandpa ... "So, you're going to bring me to visit the people who gave me this today?"

On Grandpa's birthday, his very first time holding grandchild number 10!

A Grandpa's birthday pic in Grandma's kitchen ...

Maeve, having overcome her (understandable) concern and suspicion regarding the bizarre chicken-clucking noises that forever emanate from her new Grandpa, decides his arms are a pleasant place to be after all ...

Maeve considers using the force to levitate the soccer balls in Grandpa's basement ...

But decides reaching is more fun down in this plushly-carpeted subterranean expanse.

I like it here with you, Grandma---your den table's just the right height for me!

Maeve and her dad and her Grandma and her Grandpa chortling together, as it was meant to be ... The promise of the Fordes' Christmas Eve Games Night Surprise begins to be fulfilled---and in this moment, the promise of years of wonder to come is renewed!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa
Love, Maeve
