Hi everyone,
G Minus three hours fifty minutes and counting!
It is just after noon on Gotcha Day, and we have just arrived in Nanchang after an early morning flight. Currently, we're waiting for our bags to arrive, holed up in a big beautiful room at the brand new Galactic Peace Hotel (I kid you not!). This is a magnificent gorgeous hotel, perfect to act as our home for the next five days, our first five days with xiao bao bao ... Today's going to be a Galactic Day indeed, though how much peace we'll get is questionable!
At 4 pm local time, we'll be meeting Maeve for the first time at the Adoption Center just across the street (very busy crazy street) ... But we know that Maeve is still in Xinyu, and she won't be leaving by bus until 1:30 pm. So by the time she and the other nine bao baos in our group arrive, they're going to be tired and worried and wondering what on earth---or in the galaxy---is going on. Peace may be hard to find; but that's just fine with us, as long as we finally can hold our nuer in our arms!!
Will post pics of Maeve later this evening, so you'll finally see more of your new neice, cousin, granddaughter in the morning (your time) :)

WOW!!! hours away from your life changing forever!!!! we can not contain ourselves - we are sooooo excited for you!! - the whole family is thinking about you!!! i am going crazy with 'new aunt' fever. i don't know if i'll sleep tonight!!! i'll be up all night waiting for pics!! haha. i am shaking right now - what a day this will be!!!!

Galactic Peace is right... this Thursday is Nirvana Day in Buddhism - that is "the highest happiness." Thinkin' it's comin a little EARLY this year for the three of you - for all of us awaiting you back here in Canada...
Nirvana or in Pinyin "Nièpán" is not the sense-based happiness of everyday life, nor the concept of happiness as interpreted by Western culture, but rather an enduring, transcendental happiness integral to the calmness attained through enlightenment... may you continue to feel it as you embrace each other and hold your new Nuer in your arms... think i might wake up at 3am myself and raise a glass along with sheila and geoff...get a little intoxicated with thoughts of maeve so she's true to her name...
