Some of the sights we passed, snapped quickly and through a bus windowpane; hence, a bit blurry. And naturally, these pics hardly do justice to what we saw, what one can see while passing through Beijing. It is a such a vast onion-skinned world unto itself, a Gormenghastian city with dramatically variegated subcultures, ethnic sectors, historic ringed layers, bleak and brobdignagian Maoist block-bulges, gleaming outcroppings of Olympian construction and hypercommercial outgrowths, plus labyrinthine ingrowths, inward-turned island kingdoms and imperial parklands and cities within the City ...
First pic is for Sheila: This is the Art Gallery of Beijing, and we do not have time to visit it, sadly. Next baby.
Final pic is one of the brief flyby glimpses we got of the Forbidden City ... Note the ice-covered moat. It seems to go on forever!
Ciao from a trio of State Guests.
